Canal "Christening" Event at the Islands of Rockport a Huge Success

On Friday, city officials, realtors, current homebuyers and prospective buyers gathered at the Islands of Rockport to "christen the canals" with a champagne toast and an inaugural boat cruise throughout Rockport's newest waterfront community. This much anticipated celebration followed the “busting of the plug”, with over 100 million gallons of water being released from the Intercoastal Waterway into the newly completed sate-of-the-art canal system, featuring an extra wide 130' main thoroughfare, the largest in Rockport.

As guests arrived at the main entrance, they were shuttled by luxury bus to the party location on Grand Cayman Court offering beautiful views overlooking the Intracoastal and Estes Flats. Party goers enjoyed the Jimmy Buffet-style sounds of local band Triggerfish, as they dined on a locally-inspired Cajun shrimp boil with all the trimmings, Summer Sangria and Margaritas. Guests boarded the boat “Skimmer” with Capt. Tommy Moore and were among the first to cruise through this unrivaled coastal community while enjoying spectacular views of the homesites from the water.

Developer Kiki DeAyala spent time mingling with guests and future homeowners answering questions about this private, gated 120-acre development featuring 150 homesites along spacious canals, all with private docks. Phase I consists of 51 homesites, 30% of which are already sold out and future plans include a clubhouse and resort-style pool, fitness center, hotel, marina, restaurants and retail.
